This week, Bethany Christian Services is asking for prayer after an increasing number of their clients who are essential workers are diagnosed with COVID-19. Their work with refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers guides, advocates, and supports key settlement locations around the globe, including the U.S.
O Immanuel, child of promise and sign of hope, we lift our world’s children and their caretakers before you. We pray for healing and prevention of spread of COVID-19 in refugee communities. Grant your wisdom to community leaders and comfort the families that are separated and stressed over their loved ones. We pray for refugees and asylum seekers who are looking for work and unsure how to provide for their families in the upcoming months. Protect families, as you have gathered them with your mighty hand.
This week, the Georgia attorney general requested an investigation into two district attorneys’ handling of the Ahmaud Arbery shooting case. Just a week before Arbery’s February death, University of Illinois-Chicago released a report ranking Georgia as a top-10 state in highest per capita federal corruption charges.
Our perfect judge, your rule of law knows no distortion. We ask for your wisdom, courage, and righteousness in the handling of the case. We pray for an end to corruption of any kind and may your Kingdom come to all governments. Lord, be the bridge of peace that restores trust between the black community and officials elected in service to them. Use your church to embody, proclaim, and promote the unity and diversity of the new creation in all aspects of society in this world.
Doctors Without Borders dispatched a team to join organizations like World Renew on the Navajo Nation in southwestern U.S. Home to more than 170,000, including 20 Christian Reformed churches and missions within Classis Red Mesa. The region has the highest coronavirus cases per capita than any state in the US. Lack of running water for an estimated third of the population, inadequate food and complex medical challenges within the community require significant intervention to save lives.
God of hope, you give your Spirit encourager and your Son rescuer to your people. We cry out on their behalf, please be near the Navajo Nation. We lament the desperate lack of basic resources of water, medical care, and food. Pour your blessing on relief organizations and multiply their efforts for your glory. O Bright and Morning Star, bring us comfort from afar, dispel the shadows of the night and turn darkness into light.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we find ourselves stuck at home - which is a great opportunity to call up a family member. Is immigration a part of your family’s story?
