Theresa was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She had to leave her home country in 1985 due to political unrest, killing, and moral injustice. After leaving the Congo, Theresa, her husband, and their oldest child moved to Burundi. When the presidents of Burundi and Rwanda were killed and civil war began in 1993, Theresa and her family witnessed horrible things. Today Theresa lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It has taken time to heal, but God has healed Theresa, and today she is able to talk about her experiences and how they have shaped her. Theresa is a teacher and is currently pursuing her PhD.
