In God's green pasture feeding by His cool waters lie Soft in the evening walk my Lord and I - His Sheep Am I
Last week the town of Jasper, AB’s 5000 permanent residents and 1000s more seasonal workers were evacuated and a fast-moving wildfire destroyed approximately 30% of the town’s structures. The fire is still burning in the park.
Console and comfort the displaced Lord God. In these times of grief, regathering and rebuilding, may the resources they need be available and easy to access. Help us to understand the nature of these out of control fires and where we as communities and in policy might need to make changes. Bring new life Lord to Jasper.
The record for the world’s hottest day happened on July 21 with the global average hitting 17.09 degrees Celsius, breaking the record set the year before. As more and more places around the world experience record breaking extreme heat, we pray:
Lord, you created all things in your wisdom. You know how it all holds together. And yet we have insisted we know better. These temperatures are not sustainable and we are not adapted to them. Give us wisdom and protect us from the harm of the heat. May governments and communities provide for citizens around the world the tools needed to combat the heat. And may we again commit, as Christ-followers, to policies that keep our beautiful world in balance and working as creation intended.
In Ontario, rental evictions have increased 85% in the last year. Tenants are increasingly having to fight unjust evictions. The housing crisis is real and prices are not attainable. We pray for the housing situation in Ontario and other places across Canada.
God, where can people go? In lands of so much, where do people turn when there is no where to live close to their employment or families? Lord, you are our home and you created us to need home and create homefulness for ourselves and for the stranger. Give us ideas at the governance level and compassion on the streets. Provide miraculously for those afraid of eviction even today, Gracious God.

Recently, several justice seekers from various CRC agencies and ministries sat down to discuss this. Read More »
