Justice Prayers - November 23, 2022

“‘Turn your ears our way, God, and listen. Open your eyes and take a long look at our ruined city, this city named after you. We know that we don’t deserve a hearing from you. Our appeal is to your compassion. This prayer is our last and only hope." - Daniel 9:18 MSG

Colorado Springs Shooting

Five people are dead and 17 wounded after a mass shooting inside an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, CO over the weekend.  The event marks more than 600 mass casualty shootings in the US so far this year.

Christ, we settle in beneath your wings, carrying our sadness and sorrow for more lives lost in senseless violence. We grieve the hatred that fosters hatred for the LGBTQ community and ask for your healing Spirit to bind the wounds and bring your lasting comfort.

Earthquake in Indonesia kills at least 162
Java, Indonesia’s main island, was rocked by an earthquake Monday that killed at least 162 and left hundreds missing.   Hardest hit was the city of Cianjur and the surrounding area of the country’s most densely populated province.

Mover of mountains, we stand before you in awe of the mighty power of the earth to break and move. Be near all those impacted by the earthquake and move the mountains of debris by the power of your Spirit working amongst the rescuers.

Winter conditions hit Ukraine as Russian attacks hit power supply

The Ukrainian government urged residents to conserve energy as the United Nations warned of a humanitarian disaster in the country this winter.  Russian bombardments of Ukrainian energy targets have halved the output for essential energy to heat homes as temperatures are beginning to fall below zero.

Powerful God, we intercede on behalf of Ukraine in a plea for peace in the country. We ask for your mighty hand of protection for the millions at risk of freezing death and ongoing suffering.  Break the bondages that thirst for war and set your beloveds free.
