Justice Prayers - March 13, 2024

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” - Revelation 5:12

Haiti in Chaos

Haiti is in a spiral of collapse as gang violence has shut down the airport, set fire to government offices, taken control of prisons, freeing 4000 prisoners, keeping the Prime Minister out of the country.
Amidst this violence we pray for peace,

God, this land is in deep distress and we pray for your spirit of peace to flood it.  We pray for good governance, restoration of peace, fair law and agency for the people of Haiti. Lord, bring relief to the men, women and children who seek to live freely, without fear and able to provide for their families.  Jesus, bring peace.

Report on the Implication of Climate Change Across Many Sectors in EU

The European Environment Agency released a report this week stating that Europe’s food and health systems are not ready for the changes in motion from climate change. The report, looking at healthcare systems, farming and critical infrastructure anticipates that “Hundreds of thousands of people would die from heat waves, and economic losses from coastal floods alone could exceed 1 trillion euros ($1.1 trillion) per year” by the end of the century if nothing changes.

Father, we knew about climate change and now the consequences are clear. We need to not only change how we live but our policies in critical parts of our public lives. In times of increasing polarization, we need you to help us, inspire us, change our hearts so we can work together and decide how to live together with policies and legislation that serves the common good. By your Holy Spirit.

Gunman kidnap 300 school children in northwestern Nigeria

Gunmen kidnapped 300 students in Northwestern Nigeria on Saturday, Mar.9. This is the 3rd kidnapping in the region since last week;  a group of gunmen abducted 15 children from a school in another northwestern state, Sokoto, before dawn Saturday, and a few days earlier 200 people, mostly women and children displaced by conflict, were kidnapped in northeastern Borno State.

Lord who frees captives, we pray for those taken to be returned to their families and for this terror to cease, in Jesus’ name. Comfort the children and keep them safe from violence. We pray for their safe release and for those who do such things to repent and turn from these ways of harm.
