Enabling the use of electric vehicles is key to ending climate crisis

Chairing a Meeting is Earthkeeping, Too

A month ago I returned home from the COP26 talks to a province suffering from the biggest flood of my lifetime and the second unprecedented climate-related disaster of the last seven months. It was surreal to see flooding in my hometown make international headlines due to “atmospheric rivers.” Needless to say, abstract discussions about climate change have real world consequences.

After COP26, We Need Radical Faith, Hope, and Love

The UN Climate Conference, COP26, ended late last Saturday after extended negotiations. For many around the world—including me, as I streamed the anticlimactic closing plenary from an Edinburgh pub—its conclusion was disappointing.

Why Care About COP26?

As you’ve probably heard, COP26, the UN Climate Conference intended for the world’s nations to take coordinated global action on the climate crisis, is happening in Scotland right now. Why is it worth our attention? I’ll get there, but first I want to start with a more basic question someone asked me recently.

“Why is creation care a concern for you?”

A Strong Climate Change Bill Needs your Support

Those of us who are Christians committed to ending the climate crisis receive solace from Isaiah 40:31. “Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord will be renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and won’t become weary. They will walk and won’t grow tired.”

The Hebrew word for “wait” in this passage is “Qavah” which means to wait actively with anticipation, watching with hope for God to act.

Chickens Leaving Me with Questions about More than Chickens

Some years ago we lived in Mwanza, Tanzania.  It is a pleasant city: tropical, yet not humid, mostly clear skies, and on the shore of a beautiful lake.  The built-up “downtown” of shops was small (relative to the population of 1.5 million people) and while we did shop in the local markets on many occasions, we also frequented one store in particular.  This store usually stocked imported items from Nairobi or elsewhere in Kenya.  Most often we could find everything we needed, plus some oddities.  That’s where the chickens come into the story.

I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I'll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

Go Green: Creation Stewardship Recommended Resources

Climate Witness Project is blessed to have a great group of regional organizers throughout North America, working to mobilize churches to take creation care seriously. We asked each of them to recommend a favorite book or resource that deals with climate change issues. Here’s what they said:
