Theresa Kashale

Theresa was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She had to leave her home country in 1985 due to political unrest, killing, and moral injustice. After leaving the Congo, Theresa, her husband, and their oldest child moved to Burundi. When the presidents of Burundi and Rwanda were killed and civil war began in 1993, Theresa and her family witnessed horrible things. Today Theresa lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It has taken time to heal, but God has healed Theresa, and today she is able to talk about her experiences and how they have shaped her. Theresa is a teacher and is currently pursuing her PhD.

Safi Kaskas is an administrator in the managerial sciences with over 40 years of broad-based experience in strategic planning, leadership and business ethics with an emphasis on strategic management in the corporate and academic worlds.

He is a co-founder of East West University, Chicago, IL; and was elected as President of its Board of Directors from 1979 – 2005. He continues to serve on its board as an ex officio.

He is the Founder and President of Strategic Edge Management Consultants, Mr. Kaskas helped many mid-level and large corporations successfully develop their business portfolios. His consultant firm focused on strategic development within the health care industry and founded the American Strategic Healthcare Management Company (ASHM) which is active in the healthcare field in Jeddah, Saudi Arabic. 

In addition to his focus on strategic management science, Mr. Kaskas has studied Abrahamic religions and lectured throughout the US and the Middle East on subjects related to Islam, interfaith and reconciliation between Evangelicals and American Muslims. 

He is Senior Researcher in Islam and Multifaith Reconciliation with George Mason University, Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution.

Mr. Kaskas translated and published the Qur’an into simple easy to understand English in January 2015 and published The Qur’an with references to the Bible in January2016. This book has 3000 references to the Old and the New Testaments.

The Italian translation to The Qur’an with references to the Bible was completed in April 2016 and was presented to his holiness Pope Francis 1 during the same month.

He just completed compiling the first Hadith book/collection of Prophet Muhammad’s sayings on “The Kindest of Manners”. The book will be published during this year.

Mr. Kaskas is a member of the board of the Vatican Foundation International Center Family of Nazareth. 

 

Sylvia Keesmaat

Dr. Sylvia C. Keesmaat taught Biblical Studies and Hermeneutics at the Institute for Christian Studies for ten years. In 2004 she left full-time academia to pursue her interests in sustainable living. Currently, she is Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Christian Studies and at the Toronto School of Theology. She is also an instructor in the Creation Care Studies Program in Belize. Since 2013, Sylvia is the Biblical Scholar in Residence for the Deanery of Victoria-Haliburton of the Diocese of Toronto, Anglican Church of Canada. Dr. Keesmaat is the author of Colossians Remixed: Subverting the Empire (with Brian Walsh, [2004]), Paul and His Story: (Re)Interpreting the Exodus Tradition (1999), and editor of The Advent of Justice (1994). She is currently writing a book on the Epistle to the Romans, and preparing to write one on creation in the New Testament. Dr. Keesmaat speaks frequently on issues related to biblical faith and creation care, sustainable living and radical discipleship. She earned her Permaculture Design Certificate in 2014 and lives on an organic solar powered farm with her husband, Brian Walsh.

Asha Kerr-Wilson

Asha Kerr-Wilson is the climate justice intern at Citizens for Public Justice, a faith-based organization that advocates for justice in Canadian policy. She studied Environmental Studies and Justice studies at university and is passionate about engaging in the intersections between the two. A member of the Anglican church, Asha volunteers with their relief and development agency (PWRDF) as a member of the board of directors and the youth council. 

Richard Killmer

Richard Killmer works with the Climate Witness Project for the Office of Social Justice of the CRCNA. He is a retired Presbyterian minister and has worked for various national denominations and ecumenical organizations, including founding or co-founding Shoulder to Shoulder, the Greater Washington Interfaith Power and Light, and the Muslim-Christian Initiative on the Nuclear Weapons Danger. He received the Climate Protection award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency during the Bush Administration for his work while at the National Council of Churches. Mr. Killmer and his late wife, Dr. Margaret Killmer, were married for almost 49 years and are parents of four daughters: Karin, Candace, Megan and Holly.

Pablo Kim Sun

Rev. Dr. Hyung Jin Kim Sun, a.k.a Pablo serves as Senior Leader for Anti-Racism and Intercultural Conciliation for CRCNA. With his wife, Jinah Im, who is a registered social worker, and his daughter Loa, Pablo reflects on how to live as a disciple of Jesus amidst the intersection of multiple identities: Korean, Paraguayan, scholar, pastor, immigrant, and Christian in Turtle Island. He is also the author of "Who Are Our Enemies and How Do We Love Them? 

 

Zachary King

Zachary King is a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church and was chosen by Synod 2022 to be General Secretary of the Christian Reformed Church. From 2017 to 2022 he served as the Director of Resonate Global Mission, the mission agency of the CRC. Before that he served as a missionary with Resonate in Haiti and Nigeria, and as a pastor in Allendale, Michigan. Zachary is married to Sharon, who also worked alongside him as a missionary, and who now serves as a hospice chaplain in West Michigan. Zach and Sharon have four teenage children and live in Kentwood, Michigan. In his spare time, Zach enjoys mountain and road biking, hiking, reading, and time with his family.
